The ABB CI868K01 is an IEC 61850 communication interface module for the ABB AC 800M controller family. It enables the AC 800M controller to communicate with external Ethernet devices using the IEC 61850 standard, Edition 1. This standard is widely used in substation automation, allowing for the integration of process automation and electrical control within the same controller system.

The CI868K01 package includes the CI868 communication interface module and the TP867 baseplate. The baseplate features two RJ45 Ethernet connectors. Channel 1 (CH1) supports 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps communication speeds. A code lock on the baseplate prevents the installation of incorrect module types.

The CI868 module itself contains the CEX-Bus logic, a communication unit, and a DC/DC converter that provides the necessary voltage from the +24 V supply via the CEX-Bus. Up to 12 CI868 modules can be used with a single AC 800M controller.
